As a painter, I explore the conversation between Self and the natural world through emotional, spiritual, and psychological lenses. Growing up in Manhattan, with very little access to forests, rolling hills, and open skies, I was left with a constant yearning to be “elsewhere”. As a result, my art is infused with a romantic gaze into a world beyond reach. Whether from life, photographs, or dreams, I search for references that connect me to this feeling of longing for nature; discovering how intimacy can provide a different way of seeing.
The intangible landscapes I paint are both familiar and distant at the same time. Attempting to capture the magical quality of moments when one is in communion with nature—magic often tinged with melancholy for its temporality.
