When does looking shift from a passive glance to an intentional act of love?

I strive to forge a practice rooted in the discovery of moments of love found in attentive observation—where subtle hints of something beyond our ordinary perception seem to appear. Through the intricate interplay of color relationships and an investigation of self, my work depicts loving relationships found within everyday experiences.

My paintings draw from nature, encapsulating the glimpses of wonder that can be found within her simple existence—the impossible color of a translucent leaf in the sunlight; that one flower, star, or insect that seems to “speak” to you; the uncatchable dance of light and shadow at different times of the year and day. I approach each canvas with the intention of revealing a certain mystical luminosity that belongs to all things. The endless possibilities of color dynamics keep me engaged and curious throughout this process.

Self portraiture has become the most genuine way to communicate my relationship to the Earth. The figure is a way to convey ideas symbolically, and while at first the portrayal of self was a matter of practicality, it soon developed into an avenue of self-discovery and personal evolution. Other figures who appear in my work represent different aspects of myself—as influenced by my interest in Jungian dreamwork. From the perspective of my personal journey, each character within my paintings embodies the universal human experience of unknowingly seeking something greater than themselves.

As my work evolves, I hope to inspire a sense of wonder and contemplation: encouraging viewers to pause and bear witness to the beauty and mystery within and around us. My paintings aim to be a bridge between the tangible and the ethereal, inviting those who look to connect with their surroundings and to participate in extraordinary moments of love that might otherwise slip by unnoticed.
