As a painter, I explore the conversation between Self and the natural world through emotional, spiritual, and psychological lenses. Growing up in Manhattan, with very little access to forests, rolling hills, and open skies, I was left with a constant yearning to be “elsewhere”. As a result, my art is infused with a romantic gaze into a world beyond reach. Whether from life, photographs, or dreams, I search for references that connect me to this feeling of longing for nature; discovering how intimacy can provide a different way of seeing.

The intangible landscapes I paint are both familiar and distant at the same time. I attempt to capture the magical quality of moments when one is in communion with nature—magic often tinged with melancholy for its temporality. As my work develops, I intend to contemplate the dualities between human versus nature, internal versus external worlds, and reality versus imagination.
